Arrive in Cochin (Kochi), where you will be met at the airport or railway station and transferred to the hotel. After breakfast, check out and travel towards Thekkady (Periyar). The road continues through the Western Ghats, passing tea estates, forested slopes and agricultural areas. As the journey progresses, spice cultivation becomes increasingly prominent, particularly in the highland areas around Thekkady.

After arrival and hotel check-in, visit a spice plantation. Depending on the plantation and season, crops such as cardamom, pepper, cinnamon and cloves can be seen while learning about the growing conditions they require. The visit connects the landscape with Kerala's centuries-old importance as a centre of spice production and trade.

Later, spend time around Periyar Tiger Reserve and Periyar Lake. An authorised boat ride can be taken when included and available, offering views towards the surrounding forest from the reservoir. Spend the later afternoon around Kovalam Beach, walking beside the sea or relaxing at the resort after the road journey. Swimming should only be considered when sea conditions are suitable and local safety guidance permits it. Enjoy the evening at leisure with no further long-distance travel scheduled. Continue to other accessible parts of the coast, including Hawa Beach (Eve's Beach) and Samudra Beach. Rather than treating all of Kovalam as a single beachfront, visiting these sections shows the varying character of the destination, from more active visitor areas to comparatively quieter stretches.

Keep the afternoon flexible for leisure at the hotel or beside the Arabian Sea. This unhurried day provides a useful break after the hill drives and backwater journey earlier in the itinerary.
