Tour Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival at Bangalore
Arrive at Bangalore and in the evening, board a Golden Chariot Train to Chennai. You will be amazed to see the grand hospitality by the staff of Golden Chariot. Transfer to your coach and relish the dinner on board. The train will depart at 22:00. Overnight on board.

Day 2. Chennai - Mamallapuram
Arrival at Chennai in the early morning. Take breakfast on board and then drive towards – Mamallapuram  which is also known as Mahabalipuram. Explore the major attractions like the Shore and the Five Ratha Temples, tiger Caves and Arjuna Penance. Thereafter you will be leaving for Chennai. You will be visiting some renowned tourist attractions which include St. Thomas Mount, San Thome Cathedral, Kapaleeshwar temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and the National Art Gallery, which is one of the oldest Art Galleries of the country. Later in the evening explore the Marina Beach. Return to the train for dinner and overnight onboard to Pondicherry.

Day 3. Pondicherry
The following day after breakfast on board, you will be leaving for the cultural exploration of Pondicherry. Visit the coastline of 32 kms, pristine beaches and fishing villages. Thereafter you will be visiting Aurobindo Ashram,which is quite popular sight to visit while South India excursion and Auroville. Later return to the train and move on to the next destination- Tiruchirapalli. 

Day 4. Tiruchirapalli – Thanjavur
Disembark from the train and visit to Rock-Fort Temple, which houses two temples within named as Ucchi Pillayar Temple  and Thayumanaswamy Temple, Srirangam Temple, a beautiful structure commissioned in Tamil style of architecture and Ganpati Temple. Later you will be exploring the Lord robert Clive’s House. Return to the train to roll on towards Thanjavur. Proceed for your cultural exploration of the city which commences with exploring popular attractions like Brihadeshwara Temple, dedicated to Lord shiva and has been listed amongst the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the archaeological Museum. Board the train to Madurai. Enjoy the dinner and overnight onboard.

Day 5. Madurai
The following day commences with a toothsome breakfast and thereafter you will be proceeding for to explore Madurai  which include Meenakshi Amman Temple, which is dedicated to Meenakshi, a form of deity Parvati and her consort, Sundareshwar, a form of Deity Shiva, Thirumalai Nayak’s Place and Gandhi Museum, which is amongst the five Gandhi Museums of India. Return to the train for rolling towards another destination. Enjoy the dinner and overnight onboard.

Day 6. Trivandrum
Today after having your breakfast, you will be leaving for Trivandrum. Upon arrival proceed for your check ins and after a short relaxation proceed for your visit to Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Napier museum and Chitra Art Gallery. Roll on to the next destination- Poovar Island. Spend your time at the beaches and transfer to the train for dinner and overnight onboard.

Day 7. Kumarakom – Kochi
Arrival at Kumarakom and enjoy the surroundings amidst the backwaters. Proceed for the sightseeing of Kochi. Visit the St. Francis Church which was built in 15 th century. Pay a visit to the Matancherry Palace which is also known as Dutch Palace, housing the collection of Kerala murals and portraits. Visit the Kerala Folklore Museum exhibiting the artifacts and depicting the history of Kerala. Another spectacular attraction is Chinese Fishing Nets. In the evening, if time permits then watch the Kathakali dance performance which will amaze you by their costumes, makeup and face mask. Overnight on board towards the last destination- Bangalore.

Day 8. Bangalore
Arrival at Bangalore in the morning. After breakfast, de-board the train. The tour ends here. You may continue towards your next destination.
