Tour Overview

Northern India's monumental heritage and Kerala's changing natural landscapes come together on this 11 Nights 12 Days Golden Triangle Tour with Kerala. The journey begins in Delhi, where Mughal landmarks, historic neighbourhoods and the ceremonial avenues of the capital introduce several layers of Indian history. It then continues to Agra for the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, followed by the former Mughal capital of Fatehpur Sikri and the forts and palaces of Jaipur.

After Rajasthan, the character of the holiday changes completely with the journey south to Kerala. Cochin introduces the trading history of the Malabar Coast through Fort Kochi, St. Francis Church, the Chinese Fishing Nets, Mattancherry Palace and the old streets around Jew Town. From the coast, the road climbs through the Western Ghats to Munnar, where tea estates, mountain reservoirs and viewpoints replace the architectural landscapes of North India.

The final section continues through the spice-growing hills around Thekkady before descending to Alleppey's celebrated backwaters. Travelling from Mughal monuments and Rajput architecture to tea plantations, forested highlands and palm-lined waterways gives the itinerary a strong sense of geographical variety. The tour ultimately returns to Cochin for departure, completing a practical route through two distinctly different regions of India.

Day by Day

Your Itinerary

Day
1
Arrival in Delhi – Welcome to India's Historic Capital

Arrive at Delhi International Airport, where our representative will meet you after the completion of immigration, baggage collection and customs formalities as applicable. Proceed by private vehicle to your hotel and complete check-in. Delhi is an ideal introduction to India because the city contains monuments and neighbourhoods belonging to several different periods, from medieval settlements and Mughal quarters to the broad avenues developed during the twentieth century.

The arrival day is deliberately kept comfortable because international flight timings can vary considerably. Guests reaching Delhi early may take a short orientation drive through the capital, while those arriving after a long overnight journey can use the afternoon to rest. The main sightseeing has been reserved for the following day so that important monuments are not covered hurriedly immediately after arrival.

Spend the evening at leisure and prepare for the journey ahead. The following days will move from Delhi's historic quarters to the Mughal architecture of Agra and the royal heritage of Jaipur before travelling south to Kerala. Dinner can be taken at the hotel or independently according to the selected meal plan. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day
2
Delhi Sightseeing – Old Delhi and New Delhi

After breakfast, begin with Old Delhi, where the atmosphere is defined by crowded lanes, traditional markets and important Mughal-era landmarks. Visit Jama Masjid, one of the city's prominent historic mosques, before passing through the bustling surroundings of Chandni Chowk. Continue to Raj Ghat, the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, set within landscaped grounds beside the Yamuna.

The sightseeing then moves towards New Delhi. Drive past or stop at prominent landmarks such as India Gate, the ceremonial boulevard of Kartavya Path, and the government district around Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament House, according to local traffic and security restrictions. These broad avenues create a striking contrast with the compact streets and market areas experienced earlier in Old Delhi.

Continue with visits to Humayun's Tomb, an important example of Mughal garden-tomb architecture, and Qutub Minar, the landmark tower forming part of the historic Qutub complex. Both monuments help place Delhi's architectural history in a much wider timeline than the Mughal period alone. After completing the sightseeing, return to the hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day
3
Delhi to Agra – Agra Fort and Mughal Heritage

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and begin the private road journey towards Agra. Leaving Delhi's metropolitan region behind, travel across the northern plains towards the former Mughal imperial city. Suitable comfort stops can be made along the way, and on arrival in Agra proceed to the hotel for check-in and some time to freshen up.

Later, visit the imposing Agra Fort, one of the city's most significant historic monuments. The vast red sandstone fort served as an important imperial residence and administrative centre during the Mughal period. Within its fortified walls are courtyards, audience halls, residential sections and later marble additions that reveal how the complex developed under different emperors.

Depending on the time available, the evening can include a visit to Mehtab Bagh, situated across the Yamuna River from the Taj Mahal, or some free time in Agra. Travellers interested in traditional craftsmanship may also see local marble inlay work at an appropriate establishment, although shopping remains entirely optional. Return to the hotel after sightseeing. Overnight stay in Agra.

Day
4
Agra – Taj Mahal – Fatehpur Sikri – Jaipur

Begin the morning with the highlight of Agra, the magnificent Taj Mahal. Built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of Mumtaz Mahal, the monument is celebrated for its white marble architecture, symmetry, detailed inlay work and formal garden setting. Sufficient time will be allowed for security procedures and for viewing the monument from its principal perspectives rather than treating the visit simply as a photography stop.

After leaving Agra, continue towards Fatehpur Sikri, the former imperial city established during the reign of Emperor Akbar. Explore important sections of the complex such as Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, Panch Mahal and the monumental Buland Darwaza, according to current access arrangements. The extensive courtyards and surviving structures provide a valuable picture of Mughal planning and architecture beyond Agra.

Resume the journey towards Jaipur, entering Rajasthan as the day progresses. On arrival in the state capital, transfer to the hotel and complete check-in. After a day combining the Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri and a substantial road journey, the evening is left free for rest. Jaipur's principal monuments are reserved for the following day. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day
5
Jaipur Sightseeing – Amber Fort, City Palace and the Pink City

After breakfast, travel towards Amber Fort, the great hilltop fort complex outside Jaipur's historic centre. Enter through its impressive gateways and explore the courtyards, royal chambers and decorative sections of the palace complex. Among its most admired areas is the Sheesh Mahal, known for its intricate mirror work. The fort's elevated position also provides broad views across the surrounding hills and settlement.

Return towards Jaipur, stopping for a view of Jal Mahal, the palace situated within Man Sagar Lake. Continue to the historic centre for City Palace, where courtyards and museum spaces preserve elements of Jaipur's royal heritage. Nearby, visit Jantar Mantar, whose large astronomical instruments demonstrate the scientific interests of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II.

See the distinctive façade of Hawa Mahal, one of Jaipur's most recognisable landmarks, before spending some time around the old city's market streets. Travellers interested in textiles, block printing, jewellery or handicrafts may browse the bazaars, although shopping is optional. Return to the hotel after the day's sightseeing. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day
6
Jaipur to Cochin – Journey from Rajasthan to Kerala

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Jaipur Airport for the scheduled journey to Cochin (Kochi) according to the confirmed flight arrangements. This travel sector creates a dramatic geographical change, taking you from Rajasthan's comparatively dry landscape to Kerala's tropical southwest coast. The exact programme will depend on the selected flight schedule and any required connection.

On arrival at Cochin International Airport, meet the representative or driver and transfer to the hotel. Coconut palms, humid coastal air and dense tropical vegetation provide an immediate visual contrast to Jaipur. Check in and take some time to rest after the journey before considering any evening activity.

If the flight arrives sufficiently early, travel towards Fort Kochi for an introductory walk along the waterfront and see the traditional Chinese Fishing Nets. Otherwise, these attractions will be covered during the following day's full sightseeing programme. Return to the hotel and enjoy your first evening in Kerala at leisure. Overnight stay in Cochin.

Day
7
Cochin Sightseeing – Fort Kochi, Mattancherry and Jew Town

After breakfast, begin sightseeing in Fort Kochi, the historic quarter associated with the city's long maritime past. Visit St. Francis Church, one of the important colonial-era landmarks in the area, before continuing through the atmospheric streets of the old quarter. Spend time along the waterfront near the Chinese Fishing Nets, whose large cantilevered structures remain closely associated with the visual identity of Kochi.

Continue to Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace), subject to its opening schedule. The building is particularly noted for its historic interiors and mural paintings. From here, proceed through Jew Town, where old trading streets, spice shops and heritage buildings reflect the commercial history of this part of Kochi. The Paradesi Synagogue may also be visited when open and when access is permitted.

Later, return towards Fort Kochi and spend some time walking through its old streets and waterfront surroundings. Travellers interested in spices, antiques or handicrafts can browse the local shops without any obligation to purchase. After seeing Cochin's principal heritage areas, return to the hotel and prepare for the journey into the Western Ghats. Overnight stay in Cochin.

Day
8
Cochin to Munnar – Waterfalls, Plantations and Western Ghats

After breakfast, leave Cochin and begin the scenic drive towards Munnar. The route initially passes through Kerala's populated lowlands before climbing towards the Western Ghats. As elevation increases, the road becomes more winding and the vegetation changes. Depending on seasonal water levels and road access, brief stops may be made near Cheeyappara Waterfalls and Valara Waterfalls on the approach to the high ranges.

Continue upwards through plantation country, where rubber and spice-growing areas gradually give way to Munnar's extensive tea estates. The rows of tea bushes spread across hills and valleys, creating the carefully patterned landscape for which the region is known. Mountain streams, forest patches and viewpoints appear along the route, making the transfer itself an important scenic part of the Kerala section.

Arrive in Munnar and check into the hotel or resort. If sufficient daylight remains, enjoy a short drive through the nearby tea plantation areas or visit a local market before returning to the property. The main attractions around Munnar are kept for the following day, allowing them to be seen without rushing after the mountain journey. Overnight stay in Munnar.

Day
9
Munnar Sightseeing – Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point and Tea Country

After breakfast, begin a full day exploring the mountain scenery around Munnar. Drive through extensive tea plantations towards Mattupetty Dam, where the reservoir is surrounded by rolling hills and plantation landscapes. Continue towards Echo Point, a popular natural stop set beside the water and hills. Weather conditions can change quickly in this region, so visibility may vary during the day.

Proceed towards Kundala Lake, another attractive high-range location surrounded by mountain scenery. Depending on the final programme and local operating conditions, time can also be spent at a Tea Museum or authorised tea-processing facility, where visitors can learn more about the development of tea cultivation and processing in Munnar.

Additional scenic stops can include Photo Point and suitable plantation viewpoints along the route. Rather than rushing between every available attraction, the programme allows time to enjoy Munnar's distinctive landscape. Later, return to town, where guests may browse shops selling local tea, spices and homemade products before heading back to the hotel. Overnight stay in Munnar.

Day
10
Munnar to Thekkady – Spice Plantations and Periyar

After breakfast, check out and travel towards Thekkady, passing through the mountainous interior of Kerala. Tea plantations gradually give way to landscapes associated with cardamom, pepper and other spices. The winding road crosses cultivated slopes and small settlements, providing a scenic journey through another part of the Western Ghats.

On reaching Thekkady, check into the hotel and later visit a spice plantation, where crops such as cardamom, pepper, cinnamon and cloves may be seen depending on the plantation and season. The visit provides useful context for Kerala's historic association with the spice trade and shows how several familiar spices grow before processing.

Thekkady is also the gateway to the Periyar Tiger Reserve and Periyar Lake. Depending on the activities confirmed for the package, guests may choose an authorised Periyar Lake boating or other permitted nature programme. All activities are subject to availability and forest department regulations, and sightings of elephants or other wildlife can never be guaranteed. Overnight stay in Thekkady.

Day
11
Thekkady to Alleppey – Kerala Backwater Cruise

After breakfast, leave Thekkady and descend from the Western Ghats towards Alleppey (Alappuzha). The journey passes through plantation areas and increasingly tropical lowland scenery before entering Kerala's famous backwater region. Coconut palms, canals, paddy fields and waterways become more prominent as you approach Alleppey.

If a houseboat stay is included in the confirmed package, board your traditional Kerala houseboat at the scheduled time. Begin cruising through the Alleppey backwaters, passing narrow canals, waterside villages, coconut groves and stretches of agricultural land. Local ferries and small boats remain part of everyday transport in many communities, adding a lived-in character to the landscape.

Continue the cruise during the afternoon, with meals served on board according to the confirmed houseboat plan. Watch the changing backwater scenery from the deck as the boat follows its permitted route. In the evening, the vessel will anchor at an authorised location in accordance with local operating regulations. Overnight stay in Alleppey or aboard the houseboat according to the confirmed arrangement.

Day
12
Alleppey to Cochin – Departure

Enjoy breakfast in Alleppey or aboard the houseboat. Houseboat guests will complete the scheduled morning cruise before disembarking and meeting the driver at the designated point. Leave the backwater region and begin the drive towards Cochin, travelling through Kerala's busy coastal belt.

The day's schedule will be planned around your onward flight or train. If departure is later and sufficient time is available, a short additional stop in Cochin can be considered; otherwise, proceed directly towards the airport or railway station. Adequate travel time will be maintained for traffic and departure formalities.

Arrive at Cochin International Airport or railway station for your onward journey. The tour concludes after connecting the monuments of Delhi, the Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Jaipur's Amber Fort and City Palace, Cochin's heritage quarters, Munnar's tea hills, Periyar and the Alleppey backwaters.
